Ms. Armstrong served as communications director for the International Dairy Foods Association and communications director for then-Washington, DC Mayor Anthony Williams, among other positions. A service celebrating her life will be held at the Washington Ethical Society, 7750 16th St., N.W., Washington, DC on Friday, June 8, at 3 PM. ALLEN TILLER MURRAY (Age 92)
On Monday, May 21, 2018, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late June E. Murray; father of Jill Ann Murray, Candace “Candy” Bryant and the late Allen “Coke” Murray; father-in-law of Jeffrey Bryant and Terry M. Murray; grandfather of Blake Gilotti and Darren Murray; great grandfather of Sophie, Lucas, Nolan and Peyton. Allen was a proud WWII veteran. He served in the Army in the Pacific Campaign in Okinawa as a Master Sergeant. He was a postmaster in LaFollette, TN and then moved to Nashville where he started his government career with the Department of Agriculture. In 1962. Allen continued his career in Washington, DC until he retired in 1986. A Memorial Service will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, on Thursday, May 31, at 1 p.m. Interment private. On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, of Burtonsville, MD. Cat is survived by her devoted, loving husband Tommy; her independent, strong daughter Tiffany; her intelligent, hysterical son-in-law Justin; her beautiful, caring mother Donna Mae, her faithful, gracious sister Kerri; and her creative, talented sister Donna. She will be sorely missed by her Ry-bread who now has an angel driving with him in the Firebird and watching over him and his family and Shayners, who she always knew would overcome the odds to be the strong man he is today, and Tyler who proved all the doctors wrong and is a thriving young man with a family of his own, and Brie who is so eloquent and can now share all of her travel adventures with her Aunt Cat in spirit, and Dylan and Ashlyn who she is so proud of the young adults they have become. Countless numbers of other friends and family members will miss her sweet soul, but she will be watching over all of us and will want us all to Rock On with Horns Up. In the words of her late father, “Cathy is no longer here, life is different now.”
